Will Eisner Week
get in the spirit

That one time we met comics legend Will Eisner for a half-moment was one of the greatest half-moments of our life. Eisner changed the way we read comics. Hell, he changed the way people wrote comics. Naturally we will be sitting in on all the panels, workshops, and sales that Million Year Picnic has planned for the Eisner tribute. Won’t you join us?

The Kids Aren’t Alright
IUD-grade cinema

It may speak volumes to our maturity, but siring children is horrifying. The thought of our own offspring, and the grand cosmic-revenge they will exact upon us, scares us shitless. So we’re doubling down and spending tonight watching horror movies about kids–the recent NYC Horror Film Festival winner FOUND plus shorts Awake and The Earth Rejects Him–because we are gluttons for punishment. And we’re too broke to buy rubbers.

The Donkey Show’s 500th
gimme glitter

500 performances? That must be one tired donkey. Our donkey made it three weeks before he said, “Shit, if I wanted to work this hard I wouldn’t have gone into journalism.” With great respect, we salute the quincentenary of Cambridge’s biggest and best disco-party. And we will definitely cash in on the $10 discounted tickets offered this month in honor of the milestone.

Bound Together
print posse

You may have noticed, but we’re suckers for a physical product. Your digital doodads may be sexy, but our hearts beat for print and our fingers will be perpetually stained with ink. Local book-binder Athena Mae’s opening at Washington Arts gets to the root of our love, using the physical form of books to facilitate artful storytelling.

Ira Glass
reinventing radio

NPR spirit animal Ira Glass will be taking the stage at Symphony Hall this Sunday to chat about his successful radio show “This American Life.” If you haven’t heard of it, you’re probably living under a rock. Get out from under said rock. And throw it. But not at Ira Glass. No, not in a glass house. Wait. We’ve confused ourselves.

Spring CRAFTACULAR
brew ha ha

A pizza buffet without the shame brought on by an eight pizzas delivery to your near-empty house–genius! Also, a sampling of local craft beers (Harpoon, Blue Hills, Mayflower, and more) without the shame of being the dudes leaving the liquor store with a shopping cart–incredible! The folks at Bella Luna sure know how to inspire hope after we’ve spent a long winter honing our worst habits. Cheers.
